Products: choose your source of truth
Manage your catalog in AI Node or import products owned by an external system.
Choose a management model
| Model | Where changes belong | Best starting point |
|---|---|---|
| AI Node managed | Product and variant screens in AI Node | Create products |
| Externally managed | Your ERP, POS, store, or other source system | External import |
Before you start
You need product access for your business and permission for the action you want to perform. Open Products at the catalog. Check the source badge before editing.
Prepare a useful catalog
- Choose the source system for each catalog you are bringing into AI Node.
- Prepare product names, descriptions, categories, images, and variant SKUs. Use consistent currencies and units.
- Create a small test product or import a small sample before loading the full catalog.
- Open its detail page. Check variants, inventory, prices, source, and AI visibility.
- Ask the AI about the product and compare the answer with the current catalog.
Expected result
The catalog contains the intended products with identifiable sources. AI visibility controls whether a product is available for AI use; it does not replace a correct description or price.
Avoid conflicting updates
Externally sourced products are not edited through the native product form. Correct their data in the source system and synchronize it. Do not create a second native product merely to override an external price.
Next step
Use inventory and pricing for native stock changes or sync monitoring for external changes.
Create products, options, and variants
Build an AI Node managed catalog with clear SKUs, descriptions, and visibility.
Import an external catalog
Load products and variants from a source system using the external JSON import.
Monitor and recover product synchronization
Check source ownership, last sync, integration health, and failed updates.
